THE BAR AREA WILL BE OPEN FOR DINING BOOKINGS FROM 17th MAY
The Duke for post-April 12th has a specific approach to Covid-19 safety.
It is called "COVID & Y.O.U." and is unique to The Duke, written by ourselves after many risk assessments, reviews, input from guests, The Team, Government, guidelines and general common sense.
Y = You O = Others U = Us
We have a very high reputation, hard won in 2020 for our approach to keeping to our mantra of 'open safe, stay safe'.
We will be doing everything to maintain and enhance that reputation whilst keeping 'The Duke' experience real.
We do not agree with a mandatory so called 'Covid Passport' to visit The Duke, albeit if made so we all have to live with it, but we hope it doesn't come to that.
Instead, we ask both regular and new guests to continue where we left off, working together to ensure that we continue the path out of this horrendous year for everyone. In 2020, with rules and guidance changing sometimes by the hour and day, we proved ourselves to be agile in maintaining these, mainly due a lot of hard work from The Team, and a lot of co-operation and understanding from our guests; this we will expect to continue in 2021.
So what is expected of You? Of Others? And Us?
Customers are requested not to visit The Duke if they are displaying symptoms, have reason to suspect they may have Covid-19, or if others from your household are in a required self-isolation period.
If you have been vaccinated, brilliant, if you have not, it is not an issue - HOWEVER - if you are of an age where it might be thought so and have not been, have a medical reason, or indeed pregnant, or are under the age band of vaccines offered, it is not a bar to entry.
However, if you are in the first three groups - your continued safety is paramount for us, we will ensure you are safe.
This is not discriminatory, and will be discreet, it is not 'bar apartheid' - all tables are open to be booked anywhere by anyone, it is so we can continue to discreetly ensure social distancing from those who may assume otherwise - this is exactly what we did for those exempt from wearing masks last year, it is more of the same.
We will ask you and others to respect social distancing, wear masks if visiting the toilets, use the sanitiser stations and continue to have fun.
We will ask you to please respect table booking sessions, and depart your table 10 minutes before the start of the 5pm or 8pm sessions start times, to allow us to sanitise tables and ensure the safe entry and exit in a timey manner. Please remember, the rule of six still applies.
We will ask you not to arrive for your booked table start until the session time of 5pm or 8pm, we cannot manage lots of people queuing however nice the weather!
We will ensure that behaviour is appropriate, and as with last year we WILL again ask guests to leave if lack of social distancing or behaviour that imposes on others - applies.
There is NO access to the bar - this is the law until the 17th May - FOR ANY REASON - there is NO BAR SERVICE - all table service is managed with the free and very popular App ROUND.
The App is free to download and use, indeed we are welcoming you all back with 10% off all ROUND orders until the 17th May - which is very nice of us....
With App ordering, we don't buy it that 'no-one on your table has a smart 'phone', or that the App providers will steal your soul if you use it - or you 'just don't like not ordering at a bar' - this is the way it is, all reasonable people will understand and co-operate as they did in their '000s last year; and will be fully reviewed by the 17th May.
If we continue to take forward everything sensibly, then we will all get there and have an amazing summer....
ESSENTIAL - PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST VISIT
Prior to your first visit it is essential that you download our drinks and table service app 'ROUND' in advance. It is free to download, and free to use, but in line with how we are allowed to open is the only method of ordering the drinks that you have patiently waited for months to have back in a pub! It only takes a couple of minutes to download and register, and best done prior to first visit. ROUND can be downloaded at any time between now and opening, but due to current restrictions, our page only goes live for orders on Saturday 4th…..
The App can be downloaded to your mobile from:
All drinks will be ordered and paid for via the ROUND all. Drinks orders outside of the app, e.g. cash and ad-hoc card payments will not be accepted. We trust that you can understand the reasons for this.
On Arrival and At Your Table
You will be directed to your table and asked to occupy your table with your guests unless you are using the toilets.
Hand sanitising stations will be positioned around the premises and customers and team members will be reminded to regularly wash and sanitise hands. Measures will be taken in the toilets to allow customers to safely use the facilities and increased cleaning, please look for signs and information whilst in the pub or ask a team member for information.
Drinks Ordering and Delivery
All drinks will be ordered via ROUND, the full drinks list with all mixer and personal choices is enabled, please ensure you enter the correct table number!
Once ordered your round will be prepared and delivered to your table.
A favour: to help keep traffic of team members and you our valued friends to a minimum, we are providing an area to return glasses to, if you could assist with dropping glasses back it would be much appreciated….
All tables, trays and glasses will be appropriately cleaned in between use. To reassure our customers all of our Team Members will be working to best practice standards for handling glasses.
It is up to us all to be responsible for ourselves and others and The Duke would like to thank all our customers in advance for working with us in these unusual times.
We look forward to welcoming you back.
